On February 14, an open discussion of the draft Law of the Republic of Armenia "On Comprehensive Health Insurance" was held in the conference hall of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Armenia, which was attended by the chairmen of the branch unions-members of the CTUA, representatives of various branch organizations, members of the standing committees of the CTUA. The head of the State Health Agency of the Ministry of Health Samvel Kharazyan and the legal consultant for the development of the law Izabel Abgaryan were invited to present the draft law and provide clarifications.
During the questions and answers, a number of misunderstandings were clarified.
In her speech, Deputy President of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Armenia Tiruhi Nazaretyan noted that the provision that, according to the law, the burden of the mandatory monthly payment for health insurance in the amount of 13,700 drams is imposed only on the employee continues to be problematic for trade unions. Employees will pay 164,400 drams per year for health insurance.
Employers will not bear any responsibility for distributing this payment or for reviewing wages appropriately.
Unions will continue to advocate for a fair and equitable distribution of the burden using all available tools.
