The 114th session of the International Labour Conference of the International Labour Organization (ILO) is being held in Geneva, with delegations from 187 member states participating.
Armenia is represented by delegates from the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of Armenia, the Confederation of Trade Unions of Armenia, and the Republican Union of Employers of Armenia.
The delegation of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Armenia includes President Elen Manaseryan, Eduard Pakhlevanyan, President of the Branch Union of Trade Union Organizations of Miners, Metallurgists and Jewellers of Republic of Armenia, as well as Aristakes Danielyan, President of the Republican Branch Union of Trade Union Organizations of Industry Workers of Armenia.
In her speech, Elen Manaseryan emphasized that ongoing changes in the world of work—technological developments, labour market transformations, and demographic challenges—require workers’ rights to be kept at the centre of economic and social policies. She highlighted the importance of ensuring decent work, social protection, and occupational safety, also noting labour reforms being implemented in Armenia and the increase in the minimum wage.
At the same time, she pointed to issues related to informal employment, income instability, and new forms of work, stressing the need for quality employment opportunities and professional development for young people.
In conclusion, the President of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Armenia reaffirmed the unions’ readiness to continue cooperation with the International Labour Organization, the government, and employers in order to promote decent work, social justice, and improved quality of life for workers.
