The final event of the ILO program on capacity building for ILO partner organizations to prevent informal employment and promote the transition to formal employment, implemented in the context of the two-year program addressing the refugee-related crisis, was held.
On September 17, the final event of the ILO Global Program on Formalization was held in Yerevan. The event aimed to present the program’s key achievements and results, discuss the policy recommendations developed within its framework, and promote social dialogue and future commitments.
The opening remarks were delivered by Roza Babayan, Deputy Minister of Labor and Welfare of the Republic of Armenia; Elen Manaseryan, President of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Armenia; Lilit Adamyan, Director of the Republican Union of Employers of Armenia; and Françoise Jacob, UN Resident Coordinator in Armenia.
In her remarks, Elen Manaseryan, President of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Armenia, welcomed the program and the efforts made by ILO partners. She highlighted the challenges identified during the work carried out by the Confederation of Trade Unions of Armenia and emphasized the importance of joint efforts within the framework of social partnership, as well as the need to ensure their continuity.
Elen Manaseryan expressed hope that the policy recommendations developed within the program would be useful for actions undertaken by the state and social partners in this area and that the document would serve as a practical tool.
During the second part of the event, Tiruhi Nazaretyan, Deputy President of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Armenia, presented in detail the activities carried out by the Confederation within the framework of the program. She noted that the issues faced by informal workers have been one of the key areas of trade union activity for many years and that the document developed as a result of the program represents a first step.
