On October 7, the World Day for Decent Work is observed around the world. It is an important occasion to once again emphasize everyone’s right to decent and safe work.
Decent work means more than simply having a job. It entails fair wages, safe and healthy working conditions, social protection, equal opportunities, and the ability of workers to make their voices heard.
Today, the world of work is changing rapidly. Digitalization, the development of artificial intelligence, and environmental and demographic changes are creating new opportunities while also presenting new challenges for workers. Under these circumstances, it is particularly important to ensure that technological and economic changes do not lead to the weakening of workers’ rights, but are accompanied by new opportunities for training, reskilling, social protection, and decent work.
The Confederation of Trade Unions of Armenia (CTUA) continues its efforts to raise workers’ awareness and strengthen their protection, develop trade union capacities, reinforce social dialogue, and better prepare workers for the changes taking place in the world of work.
Decent work is a fundamental right, and protecting it is a shared responsibility.
