On April 5, 2023 Elen Manaseryan, President of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Armenia, received Laura Buffo, Deputy Assistant U.S. Trade Representative Generalized Sysytem of Preferences, Jason Buntin, Director of the US Trade Representative for Europe and Middle East Affairs, Eric Markovs, Officer on Economic Affairs of the US Embassy, and Alexey Hovakimyan, Economic Specialist of the US Embassy.
The meeting was attended by Varduhi Brutyan, the head of the educational research center of the CTUA, and Laura Demirchyan, the head of the labor and social rights protection department of the CTUA.
Elen Manaseryan presented the structure and activities of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Armenia.
Laura Buffo, the US Trade Representative's deputy for the Generalized System of Privileges, presented the possibilities of exporting Armenian goods to the US through the GSP system and noted that the countries using the GSP system must ensure compliance with international standards of a number of conditions, one of which is the conditions related to labor rights.
The parties discussed issues related to labor legal relations, social partnership, the right to strike, the competence of the Health and Labor Inspection, the current situation and problems in the Republic of Armenia.
