Within the framework of the 114th Session of the International Labour Conference of the International Labour Organization (ILO), the delegation of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Armenia held a number of important meetings with high-level ILO officials.
In particular, meetings were held with Beate Andrees, Assistant Director-General for the Regions – Director of the Director-General's Office (CABINET), ILO; Mr Peter Van Rooij, Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia, ILO; Mr. Oliver Röpke, Director of the Bureau for Workers’ Activities, ILO ACTRAV; and Mr. Sergejus Glovackas, Desk Officer for Central and Eastern Europe, ILO ACTRAV.
President of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Armenia Mrs Elen Manaseryan presented the challenges and priorities facing trade unions in Armenia during the meeting with ILO Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia Mr Peter van Rooij and Director of the Bureau for Workers’ Activities (ACTRAV) Mr Oliver Röpke. The discussion outlined the future areas of cooperation between the Confederation of Trade Unions of Armenia and the ILO.
The meetings also addressed current challenges in the development of Armenia’s labour market, the importance of social partnership in economic development processes, as well as ILO programmes being implemented in the region and prospects for expanding the engagement of tripartite partners. Particular attention was paid to opportunities for strengthening social dialogue and to the future areas of cooperation with the ILO.
The meetings reaffirmed the importance of effective cooperation between the ILO and Armenia’s social partners, contributing to the advancement of the decent work, social justice, and sustainable economic development agenda.
