Artificial intelligence: what are the implications for trade unions?

Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming the world of work, creating both new opportunities and significant challenges for workers and trade unions. The introduction of artificial intelligence can significantly change the nature and organization of work, in some cases lead to job losses, and require new skills.
Trade unions should actively engage in the process of introducing artificial intelligence, ensuring workers’ participation in decision-making, protecting their rights, and promoting the development of social dialogue and collective bargaining. Social dialogue is an important tool for mitigating the risks associated with the use of artificial intelligence, improving working conditions, and ensuring a just transition.
